Learn glassmaking in Folkestone
Open from 6 October 2026, Folksey Community Glass is offering Glass Taster Experiences and Introduction to Glass workshops.

Introduction to Glass
One day or half day
These workshops are suitable for those who have no experience in glassmaking. You will learn how to design a small 20 x 30cm piece, select and cut your glass, and assemble the piece into something you can take home at the end of the experience (after firing).
🕰️ Between 4-6 hours with an hour break in between. Tea, coffee and soft drinks are available. Bring your own lunch.
🎟️ £130pp for full day and £90pp for half day.
Technique Kiln Formed
One day or half day
Suitable for those who have some experience, are able to cut glass with confidence and want to build on their existing skills. These workshops also provide the opportunity to experiment with new techniques and apply their new skills.

Besides our scheduled group workshops, you can also book spe1:1 or group learning experiences.
We can tailored workshops to your specific requirements and budget.
We recommend full day or 2-day bookings, but length will depend on the bespoke techniques that are taught. Cost will be determined by the nature of the learning, materials, and specialist teaching.
For example: learning how to make a dropped vessel will take 3 days, including all firings. A day to design and fire a blank; a day to review your blank, prepare the moulds, fire your vessels, monitor the drop and make further blanks; a third day to remove the rim and finish your vessel to a professional finish.

Glass Making Experiences
A Glass Making Experience session will be a 1-2-hour session. This is the perfect opportunity to start your glass making journey and experience the joy of designing and making your first glass piece using stencils and powders.
Participants will make a 16 x 16 cm piece and if time allows can also make a pendant or coaster. After your taster session, the piece you have made will need to be fired. We will let you know when it is ready for collection. The cost of the taster workshop is ÂŁ30.
Kiln Formed Panels for Bathrooms & Kitchens.
Visit our glass studio and make your own glass panel with tuition and guidance from the team at Folksey Community Glass.
We can guide you through the process on a one-to-one basis (or as a couple or family).
Not only will you have a stunning and distinctive centrepiece for a room of your choosing, but every time you look at it, you’ll have the joy of knowing that you helped to design and make it!
Cost is quoted on an individual basis and will be determined by the size of the panel that you’d like, the materials and the design. We recommend a pre-meeting (online or in person) to discuss your project. Share your colour scheme/fabrics in advance to ensure the design incorporates these colours into your glass panel.
Gift vouchers can be used to contribute towards the cost of making your own kiln formed glass panel.

We’ll guide you step by step. You can choose the handle sizes you need, and we’ll help you match colour schemes by incorporating fabric or paint samples you bring along.
